Admissions letters, 1858 and 1859.

On 25 August 1858, John F. McLaren, late principal of the Western University of Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh), certified to the Board of Trustees of the Farmers' High School that J. H. Foster, Jr. was suitable for admission to the college. In a printed form filled in, William G. Waring notified C. Alfred Smith on 26 January 1859 that he had been admitted to Farmers' High School.
